Romance at Sixty2 in Salem
by Charlene Peters
Sixty2 on Wharf is one of those suburban secrets that everyone loves to visit.
And they do.
For dinner or lounging, this corner hot spot that opened two summer’s ago in Salem sparks more than summer traffic at Pickering Wharf – the cozy corner tables light the flames of romance.
Aside from the wild arugula salad mixed with prosciutto, or the arancini rice balls that are so delicious you can’t help but emit a slight moan, it’s the warm toffee pudding that leaves you on an emotional high. The dessert is one to share, as each spoonful is devoured with passion and promise for more. Homemade whipped cream offers the option to spoon-feed your partner, if only for the possibility that you might have to kiss the excess cream around the lips.
Although the wine list is extensive, it is the Sixty2 Pickups that are the signature drink. A Cosmopolitan-type martini with a shot of champagne is the way to toast, snuggled by the wall-sized window with curtains gathered mid-way and draped in a ribbon -- enough so that you can view the passersby on the wharf.
Sixty2 on Wharf is located at 62 Wharf St., Salem, MA
